Did you know that back in the heyday of gin, the spirit’s seductive nature earned it the nickname Mother Gin? From lords to ladies, mistresses to maids, all were captivated by the exotic botanicals within. However, despite women’s history with the botanical spirit, and the fact that women still control 70% of household spending on alcohol today, there are very few spirit brands that take the female consumer seriously.
In 2017, I set out to change this by launching the first gin brand that would pay tribute to the role that women have played in its story. Wondrously crafted from gin and other lovelies, Pomp & Whimsy Gin Liqueur and Pomp & Whimsy Gin bring modern sensibilities to the tradition of gin making, by bringing fancy, modernity and dare we say it, a touch of femininity, to this wondrously old-world spirit. It’s gin, reimagined.
