Hillrock Estate Distillery produces luxury hand-crafted spirits made with grain frown on their beautiful estate in the Hudson Valley Highlands that is floor malted, copper pot distilled and, aged in fine oak. On this media stop of the tour, I will be visiting with Lisa Laird-Dunn, the ninth generation president (and first female president) of America’s oldest distillery, Laird & Company. Through three centuries of family distilling tradition Laird & Company has become synonymous throughout the world with Applejack and American Apple Brandy. Native Mainers Kristina Hansen and Darren Case returned back home to Maine from Brooklyn, NY, in 2014 to start Round Turn Distilling. Located in a 150 year-old textile mill on the Saco River near the Maine coast, Round Turn Distilling uses steam to power its modern, steel and copper still from which their famous Bimini Gins are forged.
